"Can you tell me what the maltrodextrin in this product is derived from? Most coconut milk powders I've seen have tapioca maltodextrin listed, and we are working with wheat and corn sensitivities so try to avoid maltodextrin from these sources. Thank you for your time!"

"I'm making a body scrub and shave base with foaming bath butter, liquid dye, coconut milk powder, coconut flakes. Will the small amount of water in the bath butter formula and liquid dye spoil the milk powder and coconut flakes? Is there a preservative I should use? I'm trying to avoid mica for color. Thanks!"

Staff Answer The foaming bath butter (if using a base) and liquid dye should already have a preservative added. If this is a shave product, there is likely to be water contact with this product. For that reason, you should add a preservative to the final product. We recommend looking through the list of preservatives we have available and choose one that is water soluble.

Staff Answer Coconut flour is made from dried, ground coconut meat and coconut milk is dehydrated coconut milk. We have seen soap recipes for both so you may need to test this if using in a soap recipe.

Staff Answer Normal reconstitution is about 1oz of powder to 8oz of liquid. Milk powders can be added to your water and frozen prior to mixing with your lye. This is to prevent the milk from getting too hot and burning once added to the lye.

Staff Answer Great question. Under the "Directions" tab on our website for this product the manufacture recommends 3-5% of the total batch size for a soap. if you are making 8oz of soap that would be equal to 0.24oz - 0.4oz Coconut Milk Powder.

"Our hot sticky summer is coming soon and I wanted to make a body powder. I did not want to use talc or corn starch. So I was thinking of using coconut milk powder, rice flour and arrowroot powder. I wanted to slightly pack it into a tub and apply using a fluffy powder puff. Would this be an acceptable combination? I would appreciate any comments/guidance on ratio for mixing or substitutions. Staff Answer Milk powders can be added to your water and frozen prior to mixing with your lye. Or you can blend the milk powder with a small amount of your oils and then added to your batch at a light trace. Milk powders tend to burn in CP so freezing or added at a light trace will help to prevent the milk from scorching.

"Does this coconut milk powder contain AHAs like buttermilk and goat milk powders? Just wondering if the alpha hydroxy acids are in the coconut milk powders since it is a plant based product as opposed to animal based products. Thanks..."

A lot of plants contain alpha hydroxy acids such as citric acid and glycolic acid. There are even warnings against people with lactose intolerance using coconut milk so I would assume it also contains some lactic acid. Alpha hydroxy acids are quite common in all living things including plants.

When blending Coconut Milk Powder try using a stainless steel or silicone wisk. I Use a wisk even when super batching and it is very convenient. Glycerin might bee even more messy.

As we have not tested this so you will need to test before selling. You may need to package the tea bags in another clear back for retail to prevent the loss of product.

Staff Answer While some of our products may be food grade our repackaging facility and warehouse do not meet the FDA standards for a food repackaging facility. Since these products are repackaged in the same facility as products that are not safe to ingest there is a high rick of cross contamination. Therefore we do not recommend the use of our products in any food preparation whatsoever.

I would say talk to your doctor first before trying anything with coconut oil. Sometimes a food allergy can be topical, sometimes not. If you don't have time to speak with your doctor, do a spot test on the inner corner of your elbow to see if you experience a reaction before using this oil. I have to do this with all store-bought detergents and some shampoos and it's the quickest way to know if you're going to have a problem.

Staff Answer To reconstitute the powder you can follow the ratio of 4 oz. of powder to 32 oz. of water. You can replace your full water amount with the reconstituted milk if that is what your recipe calls for.

COMMENTS:  Bought this for a first time use for body wash and found it works great. It dissolves easily, I like to heat the oil first then mix in the powder to make sure it melts completely. I found it works so well and helps with dry sensitive skin that I put it in to my mp soap. COMMENTS:  I love using coconut milk in my products! With the powder, I do not have to worry about the freezing the milk to prevent burn. I simply add the powder to the oils or emulsified batter and I'm good to go. 	"Awesome for kids face masks"
COMMENTS:  I make dry face masks using clays, milks, etc. for adults, but often heard the children asking if they could have a "spa day" with mom. I use this milk powder along with colloidal oatmeal, banana powder, and a little flax seed to make a mask for the younger crowd. Packaged in a small(2 oz or so) bail jar with a tiny silver plastic spoon for scooping and mixing, they just love it. Parents like that the kids can enjoy themselves without having to worry about drying their skin out, and the kids think it's very grown-up. I find that often times the adults are more willing to purchase if both masks are packaged as a set, sort of a "mom and me" set.

COMMENTS:  I absolutely love how coconut milk makes my skin feel. In soaps it provides a creamy and luxurious feel and in everything else, you can definitely feel the softness it gives your skin. Buying cans of coconut milk is wasteful for me because I never use the whole can at once and the rest of the can gets discarded, the powder allows me to only use what I need. My only complaint is that it is very clumpy. I add it to water and use a frother and still sometimes end up with specks of coconut milk. In bath salts and fizzies, be prepared to work on breaking up clumps

COMMENTS:  I really wanted to try a milk soap recipe because I've heard how adding milk to your soap creates a luxurious and creamy feel to your lather. I am fairly new to soaping. So I was a little nervous about trying it because of everything I read about having to freeze your milk before incorporating it in the lye to prevent scorching it. So I decided to try a milk powder first. It was very easy to use. I added it to my oils before adding the lye water. COMMENTS:  I now add this to all my soap batches/recipes. This is a wonderful, natural add-in to my recipes. It just further lends to making your skin feel soft and silky. The slight coconut fragrance is not enough to throw off your main scent, but rather just seems to enhance it... adding a little sumpin' sumpin' to it. I am going to add a bit to my lotions as well.

COMMENTS:  I use 1 ounce in my 5 pound batch of soap. I add it at thin trace right before my fragrance oil. It makes your soap so silky looking. It reminds me of cake batter when I pour it into my silicone mold. The coconut smell doesnt come through in the soap. Behaved well and would like to use it as an additive in all my soaps.

COMMENTS:  I wanted this particularly for the Coconut powder and Lavender bath salt mix but realize there are so many uses for this. First it turned out great in the above product...and makes for a nice smooth, relaxing and pleasant bath. I love the coconut smell. I'm also very pleased when I added it to some M&P soap...makes it so smooth and moisturizing. This is a keeper and I look forward to finding more uses for this.

COMMENTS:  Loved using this in a 3 milk soap I started making. The final soap was creamy and luxurious. I really liked the idea of adding the powders directly to my oils before emulsification with the lye. They incorporated without any problem and I didn't even need to premix. Just added the dry milk directly to my oils! Very happy! I plan on making a vegan milk soap next using this, rice milk, and almond milk.

COMMENTS:  I was reluctant to use the coconut milk powder at first because I usually use goats milk powder in most of my soaps. Unlike goats milk the color was very white and didn't turn beige. The light scent was pleasant and not over powering in soaps/shampoos. It mixed well with olive oil and added at trace. Good benefits for skin and hair.

COMMENTS:  I used this in my coconut lime soap for the first time this week. I added it in at trace, by itself, and it blended in nicely with no clumping. I made the mistake of adding some extra powder on top, but didn't think about the fact that going through the gel phase would cause it to "cook" and brown a bit on top! So I won't add it on top again, but I will certainly add it in often as it adds a nice, silky touch.
